What is CrackAndReveal?
CrackAndReveal is an online tool that lets you create interactive virtual locks. You set a secret code and hidden content. Your participants receive a link, solve the lock on their phone and discover what's behind it.
Is it free?
CrackAndReveal offers a free plan (up to 5 locks or multi-locks) and a Pro plan at 29€/year for unlimited locks. No credit card is required for the free plan.
How do I share a lock?
After creating a lock, you automatically get a short link and a downloadable QR code. You can also set a custom link. Share it via SMS, email or display the QR code.
What lock types are available?
Several types are available: Numeric, Directional, Pattern, Password, Colors, Musical, Geolocation and more. Additional types are planned for the future.
How many attempts does a participant get?
There is no attempt limit. A participant can try as many times as they want. As the creator, you can see the number of attempts in your dashboard.
Is the hidden content secure?
The content is only revealed by the API after verifying the correct code. Codes are stored as bcrypt hashes on the server side. CrackAndReveal is designed for games and entertainment.
Can I use CrackAndReveal in the classroom?
Absolutely. Many teachers use virtual locks to gamify their lessons: hide a clue, an answer key, or a link to a bonus resource.
Can I integrate a lock into an escape game?
Yes, it's one of the main use cases. Print the QR code, integrate it into your scenario and let your players unlock the steps.
How do I edit or delete a lock?
Log in to your dashboard, find the lock in the list and click Edit. You can change the name, code, content or custom link.
What's included in the Pro plan?
The Pro plan (29€/year) includes: unlimited locks, unlimited multi-locks, competition mode, advanced statistics and priority support.
How do I upgrade to Pro?
From your dashboard, click "Subscription" in the menu then "Upgrade to Pro". Payment is secured via Stripe. You can pay by credit card.
Can I cancel my subscription?
Yes, at any time from your "Manage my subscription" section. Your Pro plan remains active until the end of the paid period. No commitment.
What happens if I cancel?
Your existing locks continue to work normally. You simply won't be able to create new ones beyond the free limit (5). No data is deleted.
Is my data protected?
We collect the minimum necessary data: your email for authentication and IP addresses of attempts. We do not sell any data.
